A programme of events & activities is organised monthly and includes:

- Pamper sessions
- Art & craft activities

- Therapeutic gardening

Yes. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities & interact with other residents, but Resident’s preferences are always respected.
A hairdresser visits every week, a chiropodist every 6 weeks and communions are held once a month. Also we have a short interdenominational church service each month. Eye tests can be conducted in the home and visits to the dentist arranged.

Visiting hours are at any time, but we would ask that you please avoid mealtimes to enable our residents to enjoy their meals with privacy.
The Home is completely accessible with plenty of room for all Residents to move around irrespective of their needs. A lift is available between floors.
There are 43 rooms in The Poplars Care Home of which 36 have ensuite facilities, however there is an adequate number of shower/bathrooms and toilets on each floor to ensure privacy.
Food & Diet
Yes. Here at The Poplars Care Home we take Residents’ preferences into consideration when planning menus and choices are available at all mealtimes.
We encourage residents to give us feedback on the food at the regular Residents’ meetings, to let us know their likes & dislikes.
Yes. The Poplars Care Home assess changes in Residents eating habits and when there is cause for concern the local SALT department (a team of dietary professionals) visit the Residents concerned and advise what is required.
Yes. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day & evening.
Yes. The Poplars Care Home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and the local authority.

As long as the practice you are registered with are happy to travel to The Poplars Care Home it is possible to keep your GP.
If not, there are several good GP practices nearby where some of our residents are registered.
Yes, we have access to GPs at all times and for emergencies we have University Hospital of North Tees only 14 minutes away by ambulance.
A comprehensive careplan is formulated for each resident which reflects their individual needs. These are shared with relatives and updated regularly.
Each Resident has a named Keyworker.
